Huff N Puff Guide
by Light & Wonder
The latest in the popular Huff N' Puff saga, this game introduces a unique frame-building mechanic. Players collect and upgrade frames on the reels, which can then be held in place for several spins.
When to Play
How the Feature Works
The core mechanic involves building and upgrading frames on the 5x3 reel grid. When a Helmet symbol lands on a position, it performs one of two actions:
- If there is no frame, it creates a basic "hay" Frame.
- If a frame already exists, it upgrades it in sequence: Hay Frame -> Red Frame -> Golden Border Frame.
A key feature is the 3-Spin Reel Hold. If a Helmet symbol lands on a reel that does not currently have a 'held' spin counter active, all existing frames on that entire reel will become held. A counter appears above that reel starting at '3 spins'. This counter decreases by one on each subsequent paid spin.
The feature's goal is to build Houses. When a reel's hold counter expires (after the 'Last Spin' is played), the game checks if all three positions on that reel are filled with frames. If they are, the frames transform into houses, awarding prizes. The value of the houses depends on the frame quality (Hay Frame being the lowest, Golden being the highest). Instead of a credit prize, a house can also reveal a Wheel Feature symbol, awarding one spin on a bonus wheel for a chance to win jackpots.
What to Be Careful About
- Suggested bankroll: 50 units.
- Strategy Note: The goal is to minimize your investment while capitalizing on a board that is close to completing one or more full reels of frames. The more upgraded the frames (Red or Golden), the higher the potential payout from the houses.
